I’ve been a watch collector for many years. Until recently, I hadn’t bought any Invicta products in a long time. Although they made some decent looking pieces of jewelry, they simply weren’t reliable. A short time ago I decided to give them another chance and purchased one of their quartz watches in the 100 dollar range and I was quite impressed with what I got for the money. This led me to purchase this Invicta Grand Diver Automatic watch in silver stainless steel with a black dial. Once again, I have to say that I am very impressed for the amount of watch that I got for the money! This is a beautiful dive watch with a 300m water resistant rating. The watch has an excellent fit and finish (especially at this price point) It appears to function flawlessly. On the watch that I received, the bezel did not have excessive play and it lined up with the 12 O’clock position perfectly. The second hand seems to sweep very smoothly and consistently and of course most importantly in the short amount of time that I’ve had it, it has kept time very accurately. The watch right out of the box fit my large 8-3/4″ wrist absolutely perfectly. For me the over all size of the watch is just the way I like it and it is very comfortable to wear. For those with small wrists it might be a bit cumbersome. All in all, if you’re looking for a really good looking diver’s watch (a bit on the larger size but not humungous like some of Invicta’s products), then I don’t see how you could go wrong. It seems to me to be a pretty good bang for the buck and I would definitely recommend the Invicta Grand Diver.
UPDATE: One final comment This watch has truly amazed me!!! After 4 days of timing it, this Invicta Grand Diver with it’s Seiko NH35A movement has registered only 3 seconds fast. That’s 3 seconds fast in 4 days! That’s an average gain of 3/4 of a second per day!!! Definitely the most accurate of all of my mechanical watches (and this is a 100 dollar watch!) I am by no means suggesting that if you buy one of these you will register the same level of performance, but that said, you’ve got to give credit where credit is due!

  2. Relógio muito lindo

This watch is SUPREME! Its literally as nice as a Rolex without the Rolex $$$$$ price! For under $500 you simply CAN’T do better! This watch is super solid and has some serious weight! Imho the only difference between this watch and its Rolex counterpart is one is made in Switzerland, has a oyster perpetual movement and costs $12,000+ and the other is made in Hong Kong, has a japanese NH35A movement and costs under $500! Both watches are made of marine grade stainless steel, both watches are dive certified to 1000F/300M and both watches keep excellent time. I personally find this Invicta watch slightly more visually appealing than its Rolex counterpart. I especially like the Invicta wings and cross on the back end of the second hand, a nice little detail added to this watch that is lacking on the Rolex. I also like the diver helmet on both ends of the watch band and on the crown and watch face, another little detail added to this watch. This watch comes in a really nice high quality floating water tight Pelican style box which is a nice bonus! I have included a picture of the Rolex this watch is based on for comparison, the Rolex pictured is worth around $12,500 US. In the end this watch is a true masterpiece and STEAL of a deal for under $500 and I don’t regret buying it! I absolutly LOVE my Invicta Grand Diver watch!!!

I am a watch nut. However, though I have written many product reviews on Amazon, and many of those reviews were about watches that I have collected, I have not written any reviews about Invicta watches because I have been reluctant to buy them until recently. That was because the one experience I previously had with Invicta was a watch that I purchased in 2001 that had a failed movement that needed to be replaced within a year of purchase. I coupled that experience with all of the bad reviews written by ‘watch snobs’ on watch websites and concluded that Invicta was probably a brand that I could live without. That was until I saw this gem on Amazon. It was so striking in appearance that I was immediately drawn to it. In fact, I couldn’t take my eyes off it, and soon pulled the trigger. Like so many other manufacturers, Invicta patterned a group of diver watches after the Rolex Submariner and this is one of those ‘clones.’ However, I soon found out that this was not just another Rolex wannabe, but an offering that truly stood on its own legs.

This watch is bold, big and hefty, so if you have small wrists or not accustomed to lugging a small hunk of solid metal on your arm, this might not be the watch for you. Though this watch may bear some resemblance to the aforementioned Rolex Submariner, closer inspection reveals some real differences. The dial face is substantially large, but not overly so as are some of the almost cartoonish and garish, large Invictas that I often see in watch shop windows. The band is thick and the case is super sturdy. Invicta customarily emblazons its name on the side of the watch case, but they go one step further on this model and place the words ‘Grand Diver’ on the crown side of the watch, which is a nice touch. The Invicta Grand Diver logo is displaced on the face, the crown and on opposing ends of the case; giving the grand diver a distinctive character. Some others may feel the 4 logos are a bit over the top, but I don’t find them to be a distraction or annoyance. Your tastes may dictate otherwise.

This watch uses the Seiko NH35A movement, which is a 24-jewel automatic movement that is known to be very reliable and solid. Seiko (along with Bulova, Orient and Citizen) is a manufacturer that I have turned to time and again because they are reliable and low-cost, and therefore represent high value at a modest cost point. The sweep of the second hand is smooth, though the stops are easily perceptible as it circumnavigates the dial face. The lume is negligible after only an hour, so if that is a big thing for you, this watch may not serve your needs. The caseback provides the observation window through which you can see the mechanism operating, which has become more or less standard for automatics in recent years. The band and clasp are heavy and sturdy; not unlike the treads of an M1 Abrams tank. The date magnifier is a nice because my eyes aren’t what they used to be.

The overall styling, look and feel of this watch tells you time and again that this is a man’s watch with brass cojones, in case you forget…which isn’t likely. I cannot yet say that this is a reliable timepiece as I haven’t had sufficient time to observe, but I can say that I have high hopes and expectations. If so, I may consider adding another Invicta to my collection in the future. So far, this seems to be a great offering and a steal at this price point and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone
