Bought it exactly 4 years ago (2020) albeit for $160 while on sale. This has been my daily “driver” and I don’t baby it (nor abuse it)- swim in the ocean all the time, go hiking, etc. Do rinse it after salt water exposure, but am surprised all the buttons still work and not gotten stuck.
Backlight is excellent, display very easy to read in (or out of) the water. Never ran out of battery (solar charging). Barometer/Altimeter and temperature sensors are the main reasons I bought it for all my activities. Only wish it had tide tables, but otherwise this has been the perfect activity watch.
Replaced the wrist band recently, other than that it works without issues. Barring some minor scuffing/scratches around the bezel, it even looks good still. Zero scratches on the crystal, probably due to the raised “lip” (crystal being recessed well below the bezel) that takes all the beating. There’s occasional fogging of the crystal (due to temperature changes?), but seems to be common with all Casio watches I’ve owned.
Will definitely buy another one (or the upgraded version), especially when it’s under $200 again.
Was considering upgrading to a quad-sensor Gulfmaster with sapphire crystal (GWNQ1000-1A), but seeing the condition of the used ones on eBay, which all seemed to be severely scratched up, decided to keep using this one till it dies. Seems Casio just hit the jackpot with this ProTrek for quality finishing (ion-plated) vs. a more expensive Gulfmaster that ends up looking like schit…

Let me start with this. There is one thing I would improve on this watch. Watch strap! It is nice and somewhat comfortable, my wrist is in the middle of two links where I can not find the perfect fit. It’s either too loose or too tight. Aside from that, this watch is perfect. I already dropped it from 3 feet to ceramic tile. Not even a scratch on it. Unlike g shock, I don’t see any shock resist material but it sure handled it like nothing happened. Tough solar only took half a day on the window ledge too become High from medium battery level. Time is atomic perfect accurate. Backlight is amazingly bright. Watch face is ready to read. I added tempered glass watch face protector. Even though unidirectional bezel would’ve been better, bidirectional bezel is solid and won’t turn unless you wanted it to. I work in marine environment and water, mud, and sun are three primary daily conditioning I have to deal with. Although it’s not g shock mudman/mudmaster, it is excellent in water and occasional mud condition. Simply dip it in the clean water and shake it in there for couple minutes and all is clean. Buttons are big and robust even though it’s not made with metal. Hard plastic is sufficient enough to handle some bumps and rare hard hits. Sensor is exposed plastic and not rubber protected like g shock, but it hasn’t been damaged nor broken off and works great. I could’ve gotten the negative display model with anodized black bezel but I decided to go with this model because positive watch face is much easier to read when in a boat or near water /marine environment. As per my very first complaint about the strap, the watch strap needs some improvement. However other than that one minor complaint, I wholeheartedly recommend this watch. This recommendation is coming from G shock affectionate (also eco drive drive watch owner).

Es un reloj funcional y práctico, los materiales se sienten resistentes, lo mejor es que es solar y sus sensores.
La caja se ve muy resistente, sin duda lo uso para actividades toscas, desde ir al parque al senderismo hasta actividades más rudas como construcción.
Lo uso diario y se siente cómodo, está un poco grande, pero te acostumbras rápido.

First, its been quiet a ride with this watch over the past year.
Pros
1. Saying that this is a rugged watch would be an understatement and an insult to this beast.
2. I witnessed the time change automatically when travelling. It worked for me and was pretty cool! 🙂
3. The compass works like a charm, there is always one situation every year where you need that one tool to make the day. Unlike hummingbirds, we suck at directions. I had memorized the compass degree to my house incase I know what heading to use when lost,and I used the compass to drive back home.
4. I have been using the (2 Pack) Zshion Casio PRW-3500/PRW-3100/PRW-3000/PRW-2500 Screen Protector and has saved the screen of this watch, and I love it. So do get that screen protector.
Cons
1. Timer does not suit my needs, but works in certain situations : let me explain.
Before this watch I used a casio SGW-100, and it has a timer that can be set and it can go off every 5 minutes, which I loved, which worked great for doing little chores around the house or going for a small walk. it worked great into implimenting small habits when timed. The PRW 3500 does not have that function which is the biggest con for me.
2. If you are a one watch kind of person, then your other watches will suffer. I have tried to use this watch to almost every occasion except an interview. So Yeah, my other watches are R.I.P. which means, times to sell:)
3. Uncomfortable in certain situations : Recently I have started taking notes on my laptop, and the watch becomes a hindrance as it not only raises my left wrist when typing, but also when I move hands, the watch bands hit the edges of the laptop and my wrist gets bumped. It is annoying but I just take the watch off and admire its ruggedness right next to the laptop. (No product is perfect, I would highly recommend this watch, despite the cons I have noticed because it does the basic things really well, that I have documented in my previous review from last year).
All in all, I would highly recommend this watch as a MUST, just like you carry your drivers ID and cash.

I dont want to sound biased, but over the years I have learned, don’t save the best for the last. I should have just purchased this watch when I saw it rather than spend money on other watches.
Pros for me :
1. Simplicity at its finest.
2. Excellent Size, big digital screen with big numbers.
2. Rugged watch.
4. Pre-calibrated compass, stop watch and timer : all features that I use every day!
5. No battery changes
6. Atomic Time : Love the science behind that concept itself, which means that clock will adjust the time according to the time zone you are in. I have yet to experience this 🙂
