I needed something that could survive being banged into metal racks in a warehouse, but still look good as an everyday watch. So far, its held up very well. I love how durable it is. I’ve already smacked into a couple of racks and there’s not even a scuff or scratch. Yes, completely on accident. I’m just more focused on work, not “oh no, my (insert jewelry here)”. Over several google searches, Gshock’s came up as being the toughest watches on the market. I believe it! The time is accurate, all functions work great, fits great, easy to use, all that good stuff. Has 2 LED’s (one in each bottom corner) and the amount of light is just right. Its bright, but not blinding when you’re not quite awake. While I don’t have any real complaints, there are two things I’d like to point out: The band keeps a death grip on any moisture that gets under it. For those hot/humid days (which is most days here in GA), you may want to get a woven band of some sort. Nato bands seem to be the most talked about so I may be trying one very soon. Also, if you sleep like the dead, the alarm on this watch won’t wake you up. The vibration might, but not the tone. The tone is a good volume to get your attention without getting nasty looks from everyone within 30 feet of you.

I really liked this watch, to the point that I bought two different versions of it. Obviously both very similar, this one is dark gray with a traditional LCD display and the first one I got is black with a reverse display. Both great watches, very durable, and I like the look. It’s hard to say which I prefer more. The black has more of a “stealth” look to it but I like the dark gray with traditional LCD display also. Readability on both is great but you do need some ambient light to see the display without using the backlight. The light is very bright due to dual LED’s when you hit the light button (the big G button at the bottom of the watch) so it’s easy to find in a dark environment. I personally enjoy the understated text on this watch, you can see the lettering but it isn’t filled in with another color so the G-SHOCK and the G on the bottom of the watch aren’t overly noticeable. Accuracy so far seems awesome. Backlight can be set to display automatically when you turn your wrist a certain way, and the time it shows can be set to either 1.5, 3, or 5 seconds. The vibration alert option is great for me because I have a bit of high frequency hearing loss, and so while I can hear the beeps it sure wouldn’t wake me up. I am sure that this one would wake me up from a nap, but the vibration only lasts 10 seconds (probably to save on battery use) so I wouldn’t trust it to rouse me from a deep sleep. The vibration does get my attention though when I’m using the timer. The vibration can be turned off and the alarm set to a traditional beep/display flash if you so desire. One caveat – I have fairly large wrists (about 8 inches) and I like a slightly loose fit on my watches…and I’m on the second to last hole in the wristband. So, if you have really huge wrists the original band may be too small for you. Here is my full list of pros and cons:

This version does not include the octagonal metal G-shock watch box
Do not see the point of the “shock absorber” wings on each side of the watch under the band (I may end up removing them)

This watch has a ten year battery life which makes it a perfect watch for all activities. Along with the ten year battery, the material used in this watch makes it highly durable which will allow it to hold up to the ten years of the battery life. There are 5 buttons on this watch which helps with the ease of function. Overall this watch is definitely worth the money and I will recommend to anyone who may be participating in physically demanding activities, military operations, and anything else that requires you to get your hands dirty. Es un reloj especial, no todos (g-shock) vibran, con botón de acción directa al timer!!! En mi muñeca de 17.7 cms luce espectacular. El tamaño es ideal para muñecas de 17 cms a más. El color es muy acorde para ser discreto.
La hebilla es lo único de baja calidad para mi. Creo debieron poner la opción de ciclar el timer y hubiera sido perfecto.
Muy recomendable.
De tanto que me gustó hasta dormí con el y me despertó la alarma en modo vibración.

G-shocks don’t need any introduction, do they? It’s just another masterpiece among others. If you’re keen on it just pull the trigger, and don’t tell your wife until it’s on your wrist 😉
PROs
Fantastic vibration – it is so smooth and so unique. It is very strong, strong enough to wake you up in the morning? Maybe, maybe not.
Led lights – I have always thought that the electro-luminescent models were a better option, cooler and more pleasant to the eyes. Well I was wrong. The light of this watch is so powerful you could use it as a torchlight. It looks impressive and you can opt between 1 3 or 5 sec.
Looks terrific – the gray model is not as light as shown in the picture, it’s much darker. People say it’s gun metal, I totally agree.
Low battery indicator – since this model is supposed to be power hungry, Casio featured it with a massive 2032 battery and a battery indicator. An icon in the shape of a battery will appear on the screen when it’s about time to replace your battery. I personally love this function.
CONs
Screen visibility – it is good but still it’s not as clear as other model’s. In broad day light it’s perfect, but in less favorable light conditions it looks opaque. Well of course, you can use the backlight.
Countdown timer – the model is advertised to have been designed around the countdown timer “for those stealthy missions”, still it does not feature an auto-repeat or any other countdown option you find on other models.

This G-shock has a very legible display, an optional vibration alarm with snooze setting, an excellent backlight and 35 time zones. It also is gray in colour, very unusual in the resin G-shocks, for those that like something different. The only thing that bothered me a little is that I saw a watch review in which the writer claimed it had a countdown timer capable of 1,000 hours! This is not true. It can countdown up to 24 hours. The manual states that you set it to OH 00’00” to count down 24 hours and does not mention the possibility of setting it for longer periods. In any case, a very useful and sturdy timepiece!
